Sylvester the cat and Tweety Pie star in Birds Anonymous
Sylvester & Tweety in Birds Anonymous
Sylvester the cat First appearance: 1945 Sylvester, whom you’ll know better as “Puddy Tat” if you’re an adorable canary, is the most famous cat in the “Looney Tunes” canon. Created by the legendary Friz Freleng, the cartoon cat with the profound lisp made his first appearance in the 1945 short “Life With Feathers,” although he didn’t meet his archenemy Tweety Bird until 1947’s “Tweetie Pie.” Tweety is Sylvester’s most iconic nemesis, but the cat’s had memorable run-ins with Speedy Gonzales the mouse and Hippity Hopper the kangaroo as well. Sylvester also has been parodied frequently, appearing on “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy” and other cartoons.
